Famed yoga duo Crissy Barker and Kimmy Hise aka ChinTwins have offically launched The Clarity Collection, a one-of-a-kind jewelry line whose proceeds will benefit Senhoa. Senhoa is a nonprofit organization that supports survivors of human trafficking and sexual violence in Cambodia.
All proceeds from this collection will go towards Senhoa’s holistic efforts to empower women in Cambodia. The foundations offers women professional training, childcare, and facilitates rehabilitation and advocacy. For this project, female artists were trained to craft jewelry, and employed to make this collection a reality. Through initiatives like this one, Senhoa enables women to find sustainable jobs and support themselves and their communities.
A Mission Matched With the ChinTwins Mantra
The ChinTwins got involved with the jewelry collaboration with Senhoa last fall, when the organization reached out to Crissy’s husband, famed photographer and TV personality Nigel Barker about a potential project.
Barker, who learned about the organization through a project with Coco Rocha three years earlier, said his wife and sister-in-law would be a perfect fit to work with Senhoa. He felt the ChinTwins mantra of love and humility would be well aligned with the foundation’s goal to empower women in Cambodia.
Kimmy and Crissy loved the idea of working with Senhoa, and quickly agreed to take on the project. The two were excited to work on this jewelry line because the foundation not only supports women who are survivors, but also works to prevent human trafficking and sexual exploitation for future generations.
“We love the holistic approach Senhoa takes take with this huge issue,” Crissy said. “It’s not just about giving money, they’re preparing women for employment and sending kids to preschool. The way the organization is integrated into the community really lifts people onto their feet and into the future.”
Designing With Yoga in Mind
The Clarity Collection is made up of simple and elegant jewelry, complimentary of the ChinTwins signature style. The inspiration behind the collection, Crissy and Kimmy explained, is rooted in finding compassion for others and compassion for yourself.
“We wanted each piece to have an intention behind it,” Kimmy said. “It’s all about compassion and gratitude and being able to share that with others.”
Each necklace, chain, and set of earrings comes with a mantra such as “when I follow my heart, I will always find my way,” and “my gratitude brings me peace in this moment,” which they hope women feel when they wear the collection.
Kimmy compared the inspiration behind this line to the inhale and exhale of breath and energy you feel during a yoga flow. She described the connection between the women who make the jewelry, those who buy the jewelry, and the joy felt when receiving piece from this collection as an exchange of positive energy.
“Like a flow in yoga, with every inhale, an exhale follows,” Kimmy explained. “It’s the energy that goes into making the jewelry, the energy that comes with giving it to someone else. It’s a constant flow, and we’re hoping this jewelry will help people feel that.”
This jewelry line was The ChinTwins first design project. With Crissy living in New York, and Kimmy in Alabama, they passed back and forth ideas and inspiration, and spent many hours on cross-continental conference calls.
The two wanted to build the line around the active lifestyles they lead, and showcase elegant and stylish flair. Being able to practice yoga in this jewelry was a must, but they also wanted to use the same pieces to dress up an outfit and give the wearer a little extra confidence. Most importantly, they wanted the wearer to think of she who made the earrings or necklace and feel that person’s positive energy in the collection.
“We want to give women that feeling when you’re on your way out the door and you put on a piece of jewelry and it gives you a little extra kick, a little extra sparkle.” Crissy added. “And we really want women to know that they’re also helping other women, and to feel that connection with the women who actually made these pieces by hand.”
Women Empowering Women From East to West
When asked how they hope women feel when they are wearing the collection, The ChinTwins had one word: empowered. They hope to give women in Cambodia the strength and the resources to live better lives, and want to do that through this jewelry line that makes women everywhere feel beautiful and special.
“We want [the women wearing this collection] to feel beautiful and confident,” Kimmy said. “We want women to empower others by empowering themselves. Sometimes, as women, we feel shy about feeling strong or sexy or beautiful, but this collection is all about owning it.”
The ChinTwins hope that those who wear this jewelry and learn about this line see it not just as a jewelry collection, but as the result of positive connection between women around the world. The importance of Senhoa’s mission and the benefits it creates for those it serves, they explained, can simply be understood by looking at Senhoa’s logo: the lotus flower.
“Senhoa’s logo is the lotus, a flower that pushes through muddy waters and rough roots and becomes something beautiful that floats above it all,” Crissy said. “This line, this project, is all about rising through adversity, and turning into something beautiful.”
