Dear Cody community,
We are writing this to share some exciting news: Alo has recently merged with Cody. This means that we can now double-down on our mission to improve people’s lives through the power and joy of movement; we will be filming more than ever, and investing heavily to make your experience better.
Cody’s intention always has been, and will continue to be, to support the entire well-being of a person, not just the physical self or the perceived attractiveness of one’s body. Yoga is powerful because it blends a physical, spiritual, and mental practice, which gives people the confidence and focus to lead intentional lives. Since founding the company in 2012, this has always been our mission.
At the start of 2017 we faced a crossroads. After five years of operating as an independent, small business, we felt the time was right to partner with a more established company. Cody comes from humble beginnings: It started with just the two of us working out of Paul’s apartment and living off our personal savings. We had no source of revenue for the first two years, and got close to shutting our doors several times. The company has grown a lot since then, but has always been a small business — doing a lot with a little and always wishing we could do more.
In the process of searching for a partner who would support our mission, there were many additional factors to consider. We spoke with over a dozen companies in the industry, and found something very special in the Alo team: They not only supported who we are, but also kept on our entire 14-person team, and wanted us to continue operating from our home in Seattle.
Our mission stays the same as we begin to work with Alo. We will continue to be a brand that aims to represent all ages, genders, body sizes, and ethnicities. The core values our team holds dear remain strong, and now we have fuel for growth. We believe in Alo and are excited to build our future together. Here are a few things we are up to:
- Working alongside instructors from different countries who speak different languages
- Adding subtitles to support our deaf and hard of hearing community
- Creating a more diverse library with individual classes, lecture series, audio courses, and live streaming
- Supporting AloGives, the non-profit arm of Alo
But this is not the end. Like yoga, it is an evolving journey, but every journey must start somewhere.
And finally, a huge thanks to everyone who believed in us throughout all these years: Our coaches, families and those who backed us. We started with nothing but a $200 handycam filming out of Patrick Beach’s apartment. Because of your unwavering support, we had the strength to keep going.
We are honored that you have chosen to practice with us,
Paul Javid & Pejman Pour-Moezzi and the Cody team
