This is the last handstand progression in our inversion yoga series! This week we’ll put the pieces together and practice kicking up into a freestanding handstand.
Inversion Yoga: Freestanding Handstand
In a wide open space, practice kicking up to a handstand with no wall to catch you.
- Take a BIG step forward (almost like a lunge), and lean forward to plant your hands on the ground
- Let your back foot rise off the ground, and push off with your front foot
- Engage your core and use that Hollow Body position to bring both feet up & together
- Continue practicing the kick-ups until you can successfully come into a handstand without falling forward or back
