Ballet Barre Fitness Exercises:
Place one hand on the barre and center your weigh on one leg as you sweep the other one up in front of you. Attempt to keep both legs straight, your back straight, and your toes pointed. Move your extended leg in quick, tight circles.
Do 50 leg circles on each leg.
Place both hands on the barre hinge your torso forward until you are parallel with the floor. Raise one leg behind you, and bend the knee. You can either hold a weight in the crook of your knee, or do this exercise un-weighted.Pulse your back leg up & down 50 times, then repeat on the other leg.
Place both hands on the barre. Keep your elbows glued to your sides as you bend your arms and lower yourself until your chest lightly brushes the counter top. For the length of one upbeat song (~3 minutes) push up & down on the counter, bending your arms between 45-90 degrees (never straightening them completely).
Try to do this exercise away from the barre if possible. With your feet placed wider than your shoulders, engage your core, lift your heels, and rise onto the balls of your feet. Stay balanced on your toes as you sink into a deep plié. Use your glutes & hamstrings to pulse up and down a few inches, rising and sinking in a controlled manner. Do this for the duration of one upbeat song (~3 minutes).
Start at the “top” of a sit-up, holding a small weight in each hand, with your arms out to the side. Engage your core and lean back, stopping about halfway down (do not “release” or “collapse” your back onto the floor). Your range of motion should be from the top of a sit up, halfway down, pause, and come back up. As you lean back, bring your arms in front of your face. As you rise back up, open your arms out to the side.
